Any way to alter ship textures?

You know, I really love my Eagle and all, but I hate its brown color and I'd like to alter the textures a little so the ship looks more to my liking. Is there any way I can do that?

Well, that thread also stated you could do nothing 3DModel-wise and I saw screenshots of a new Tigershark ship in this game so I'm pretty sure there is a way to get my hands on those textures as well.

It is very much possible. Get HCl's utf_editor (utilities section). That will enable you to open files in utf format (.mat) and extract textures from them. Then you need to get image editor which allows to import DDS files. I am using Photoshop with nVidia's DDS plugin which works quite nicely.

I'd love to re-do my Eagle with an A-10 Warthog scheme (tiger jaws and all) but my artistic tallents fall somewhere short of a five-year-old with a box of Crayons.
