Anyone here ever play 10six?

If you have, you have the idea already then

Basically in 10six, you controlled an avatar who took a slice of land on a planet as his home base. You erected various buildings and defenses (turrets), and build rovers to defend as well as attack other bases.

Originally there was no level system and there was no limit as to whom you could attack, so high levels usually raided n00bs like mad.

All of that aside, I believe an FPS element on the planets would be awesome...though it would most likely require a major major expansion pack from MS, which from what I can see, we'll likely not ever even get a 1.1 patch .

Just a thought..

Freelancer + 10Six + Halo = *orgasm*

A strategy mod for FL would be great...

A great example is Natural Selection for Half-Life. It's been in development for years, and it had revolutionary new features and is great fun... I thought, "Finally! Something that adds in strategy and skill instead of beachball-sized headshot boxes!" Since Freelancer came out, though, I haven't knifed so many Skulks recently...

Freelancer is a good game, but would benefit immensely from modification. I want to figure out what makes the game physics tick so that it can be modified to have, say, hyperspace, for example, rather than tradelanes.

Freelancer is fine the way it is, but never will a retail game come along that is so great it doesn't need modifying because there is no such concept; because for every good game (engine) there are hundreds of non-game-designers with good concepts of their own (feel free to quote that). Hopefully DA knows mods are good for business and will release an SDK/source code soon. That's what we need to change virtually everything.

Dang, I seem to be digressing and I can't help it... Oh yeah, you have good grammar. Cheezits yummy!
