Market_ships ini file Don''t change

I spent a lot of hours today changing all the level requirements for the ships on every planet and station to 0 . This was found in the equipment section under the market_ships.ini . The result was that the only ship that could be sold on any planet or station was the Hammerhead. I thought this was strange when that replaced the Anubis on the Osiris . I reinstalled the bak file and all the ships went back to their original places along with the level requirements. I can't explain why this happened just that it did. Eample of the lines I changed under each location is this : Marketgood = gf1_package, 1, -1, 0, 0, 1, 1, 1 which in this case is the Starflyer. the first number in this line is the player level required to purchase that ship. I changed nothing else but those for each planet and station. Any explanations for this , it doesn't make sense to me. Should just have changed all requirements to 0 and not make the ships disappear.

Did you edit the list manually with notepad or did you import it into excel?

My first editting attempt failed when I imported, all the ships vanished from the dealers & I couldn't get them back. When I looked at the ini each number was quoted ("1". I just removed all the quotes & everything worked as I had originally intended.

Hope this helps.

coxpwr;

Easy to answer you, and if you'd actually read any of the ship editing posts here you'd see what your error was:

In market.ini, each line for a ship denotes a few things, and if you set them all to zero the ship WILL disappear from the market. Here's the rundown as to what they mean, as known so far (using your example):

Marketgood = gf1_package, 1, -1, 0, 0, 1, 1, 1

The _package denotes the name of the elements from shiparch.ini that taken together form the "package" or the parts of the ship.

The first number (1)is the level for that station at which you may buy the ship; in your example, the Starflier (gf1_package) may be bought at level 1.

The second number (-1) is the minimum faction rating at which you may buy the ship; -1 is full hostile, 1 is full friendly, 0 is neutral. Fractions can be used here - express 'em as decimals; i.e. -.5 is almost hostile.

THe third and fourth numbers, TAKEN TOGETHER, dentoe whether the ship is buyable at that station. What each individual number means yet is unknown - in your example, setting the third and fourth numbers (0, 0) to (1, 1) makes the ship buyable at that station. (1, 0) and (0, 1) don't seem to do much as of yet.

Another thing to note here - You can designate as many ships as you want to be buyable on the station, HOWEVER, only the first three ships on the list for that station show in the Market - so make sure that you only have three ships for each station tagged as buyable.

The last three numbers (1, 1, 1) have a purpose, nobody knows what it is yet. Just leave 'em be.

Prices for the ships can be set to an extent in goods.ini; there seem to be some hardcoded limits by class as to what a ship will sell/buy for, as well as an age factor.

Example used is Sabre at Planet Manhattan:

Price set in goods.ini is 100.

In the Market, price on ship as new is $53,400.
Price on ship as used (selling back to dealer): $80.

Price on same ship, used, being sold to dealer at Planet Leeds: $0.

Thanks for the added info it does help somewhat, however the only number I changed on every ship was the first number , I put all the level numbers to 0. Meaning that the player ( me : ) ) could buy any ship at level 0. I did not change anything else as to faction or what is bought at each location , all those numbers remained the same. ITs when I got to the osiris that I noticed that the anubis was not there and the hammerhead was in its place. Each base visited had the same ship and the others were gone and not offered for sale. I assure you I have read all the posts , maybe missed one, and that is where I got the information on changing the first number . Looking thru the ship list they all listed to the various levels being able to purchase , somehow tho they all disappeared. As for quotes I did not see any quotes to remove. I am going to retest this buy changing the buyable ship levels on one planet to see what happens in the shipyard, I made a test toon that I was testing if all gates became unlockable and that has worked so progress is in hand. let you know how my little test goes . Happy flying : ) .

ok played with it some more.

, rank, faction standing , planet locater 1 , planet locater 2, planet locater3, ?, ? . I found that there are three changed numbers for planetary placement. comparing the ones on the planet to the ones not there I read the ones there as

10, -1, 1, 1, 0, 1, 1 and the ones not there as 10, -1, 0, 0, 1, 1, 1

I only changed the rank on the ships that I wanted to be buyable and was successful at placing and removing different ships. Very happy now. thanks for the help.

last number is a price multplier - like "1.2" to make a ship more costly at some distant base. Although faik, this feature is never used in FL. =/

No Problem , the data was posted in earlier posts as to the identity of the ships and planets. I'll post the ship info again here but the planet stuff is too long , just hunt it down go back about 30 days and you'll come across it.

Here is the Data:

gf1_package > Starflyer
gf2_package > StarTracker
gf4_package > Hawk ( Civilian Ships )
gf5_package > Falcon
gf6_package > Eagle

bwf_package > Dagger
bwe_package > Stilleto ( Boarder World Ships )
bwe2_package > Sabre
bwf_package > Dromedary

cof_package > Legion
coe_package > Centurion ( Corsair Ships )
coe2_package > Titan

lf_package > Patriot
le_package > Defender ( Liberty Ships )
lfr_package > Rhino

bf_package > Cavalier
be_package > Crusader ( Bretonia Ships )
bfr_package > Clydesdale

kf_package > Drake
ke_package > Dragon ( Kusari Ships )
kfr_package > Drone

rf_package > Banshee
re_package > Valkyrie ( Rheinland Ships )
rfr_package > Humpback

pf_package > bloodhound
pe_package > Wolfhound ( Pirate Ships )
pfr_package > Mule

bhf_package > Piranha
bhe_package > Barracuda ( Bounty Hunter Ships )
bhe2_package > Hammerhead

oe_package > Anubis ( The Orders Only Ship )

As you can see the pattern in the prefix's of all the references.
Hope this helps you . It did me. : )

I think the the price of the new shield was affecting the price of your sabre.

Just a guess
