nomad weapons

Can someone tell me how to edit the game so that i can go and buy nomad weapons some where? dosent matter where i can buy the weapons. The reason i want to do this is that it seems like i cant get them by killing the nomads, ive killed over a hundred and not one damn weapon yet. do i need to be over a certain rank? I'm a 35 now and only play on lan.

Where are you fighting the Nomads? Near the 'Unknown Portal?' I was there a couple of days ago and they were dropping them at a rate of about 1 every 8 or 10 ships. I was fighting them in groups of four - on both sides of the portal.

I was getting a ton of them near the unknown portal. Those two planets on the other side are great! I explored the rest of the sector and did not find any other places of interest.

both unknowns, mostly by the one by omicron gamma, right now im docked at primus and i go out to fight maybe 4 to 8 at a time before i dock again to repair. i would say by now ive killed 150 of them and nothing.

I wonder if there is a trigger (# of visits to the zone or something) related to Nomad drops. On my server, I was in-and-out or Omicron Gamma many times before I started hunting Nomads. I saw drops from almost the first kill. It took me only a few moments to get complete sets.

But when I started a new character on another MP server, once I got my Elite I headed into Gamma and started killing Nomads right away. I killed them for eight solid hours and not a single drop. I tried the unknown zone and had the same bad luck. The next day, I started off in the same spot and again nothing. Then I popped in-and-out of the zone several times killing other things. Next time I returned to the Nomads, I was getting drops every other kill.

So, I figure there must be a trigger. I've seen it range from absolute *zero* drops....killing non-stop for eight hours......to practically a drop on every other kill. It was like somebody threw a switch.

I don't think it's level related. I was the same level before and after the "dry spell".

did everyone play singal player first, because i havent. maybe that might be the reason i cnt get them to drop.

I had the same problem. I downgraded my guns because every time I destroyed a ship the guns that came off would burn up. After that I got all the guns I needed.

could be ill try it, hope i dont get killed. what level guns were they that you downgraded to? anything less then 8 i dont think would kill them

As far as I can tell, it's a flat 10% chance that a Nomie, when killed, drops a gun he is carrying, as defined in lootprops.ini. The number of times you kill them doesn't seem to affect this. However, if you're killing them inside of a highly irradiated system, such as the pink Unknown, they could be burning up from the radiation before you can scoop them up. Also, if you're raining death on them with GMG SBBs, which fire quickly, do a fair chunk of damage, and are considered be the best L9 guns in the game, the hail of bullets you're unleashing could be hitting some of your intended loot. Try firing in a more controlled pattern, and being quicker on the tractor beam.

right now im using two wild fires (1075), a archangel (978), a golden blade (782)(all four are level tens and a refire rate of 2), and two worms(level 9s- 652 and a refire rate of 3). it could be a good explaination that i am overpowering them. ill have to try weaker weapons tonight and see what happens. but ill have to find some one to hold my other weapons just incase i die. dont want to lose them

i tried lower powered weapons and it didnt work. i killed 10 and dont want to waist any more time trying it. My last thought is that i didnt play sp yet and that is the reason that i cant get any nomad weapons. ill try to beat it this weekend. ill let everyone know what happens.

If you only killed 10, you shouldn't expect to find that many Nomie guns. A Nomie carries 2 droppable weapons, a blaster and a cannon. Each of these Nomie guns has a 10% chance to drop. With only 20 drop chances, the expected number of drops is only 2, and it is not unlikely that none would have dropped.
