PvP

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

PvP

I need some PvP practice. I can beat any NPC in the game, but my skills against humans need some improving.
Is there any server that has just one on one shootouts?

Join any server and talk to people Quite a few will agree to a bout of PvP willingly (if they've got the right ship of course) and the NPC's are nout compared to fighting a player... mainly as their loadouts are wrong!

"the NPC's are nout compared to fighting a player... mainly as their loadouts are wrong!"
Yeah - I`ve noticed that for sure.I have joined a server and there are all sorts of restrictions regarding PvP. Also, they`re not a very friendly lot so I`m looking around.
Any suggestions?

Join any server, stop asking questions and just blast 'em. After all, improving your PvP skill actually requires PvPing. So why not go the direct way?

(plug time)

Actually, regardless of your pvp skills...
certain npc's with very nasty dispositions in my mod will toast you.
Namely, (well, let's just say they're refered to as)
"ghosts" and "voices in the night" .
You can't get their weapons, so you're at a disadvantage from the start.
Taking them on solo is guaranteed suicide.
3 out of 4 pilots will die trying to explore their system.
The fourth pilot might survive to escape.
The reward for survival might be insanity and a trip to the nearest
deep isolation base...and you might miss looting the various wrecks found in
their system which could make you rich beyond your dreams of avarice.
But...
A prudent thing to do, is simply avoid their system. That is, if you ever
happen to find the entrance to their system.

Anyhow...The point I'm making here is this:
NPC's can be easier than pvp or they can be much more
difficult than pvp. It all depends on how they are coded and loaded.
Trust me, when they're coded to be very tough...even the best pvp'er
won't survive against them.

>Trust me, when they're coded to be very tough...even the best pvp'er

Still, when they are coded "fair", i.e. same weapon/ship loadout (and no armor bonus whatsoever), the npc ai will never have a chance against a good pvp player.

Of course any player will be bashed by 199583459843k armor nomad laser 6 (proj speed 5000) npcs.

To stand a chance against good pvp players, you need a LOT of training, Freelancer is actually a very skill-demanding game where its not only about the best aim, or the quickest reaction (i.e. counterstrike).

When it's fair, npc's will always have an "advantage" over a player.
It has nothing to do with UBER Bulls**t.
It's when you start giving players uber crap when you start unbalancing the game.
