The "8" Sleeper Ships - Compilation thread

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

Then again there could have been another 3, but they were criminals and were high on Cardamine, therefore they crashed into a hard-to-miss object.

P.S. Only Kidding

hmm...

Right lets start. 5, yes 5 ships actually left Earth's atmosphere. I will not dispute how many ships were created, but it is likely that more than 5 were. The nomads only appear in the non-retail intro, most likely an alpha test. Microsoft would have done research into this and found that they would sell less copies of Freelancer if Nomads destroyed Sol in the opening due to poor reviews and PR support in the US. It would scare the hell out of you to see your solar system blown up, wouldn't it?

Also, if you ever listen to the Bundshusch (i hope I spelt that right) base commanders, you hear that they are mostly French. I also believe that the Italians inhabited the Hispania. And in the release version of the game, which this forum is for, NO NOMADS were EVER PRESENT IN THE SOL SYSTEM

At racknor, there is jump technology in the intro. if there was 8 sleeper ships the computers would no that. I recon it is ever a wind up or a beta mistake.

I just noticed something about these sleeper ships... In the video four or five ships launched from the planet right... but in this topic below it states that the liberty launched 2 years earlier...

Where abouts do you watch the old version of the Freelancer intro? (The one WITH the nomads?)

Post Sat May 06, 2006 2:18 am

I disagree, there are only 5 ships at launch, The Liberty is one of them and only cruisers and fighter etc.destroyed

The Hispaina is in the Omircon Alpha System.
It's in the the huge junk field.

It is possible, that 2 more sleeper ships, not seen by the Coalition, The France and Italica, escaped certain death by abondoning the main group before the coalition came isn't it? So it is possible the Italians or French will appear in Freelancer 2.

Battleships, are made for battle, so therefore should be used to such thing as level 10 fighters. And, should be more powerful, and have better defence. For instance, if fighter has 600 attack times 8.33 refire 750 speed and range, then a battleship, should have 1200 range and speed 3OOO damage, and a refire of 4 for guns. Battleships should be able to only go 45 klm, except for having thrusters and cruise engines. And expensive. Base weapons should have 4000 attack 2000 range and speed and 4.00 refire.

Greetings, I'm new to here.

After spending 3 hours reading these posts, one thought just cross my mind. If the original story was the Nomads blow up the Sol, then it is likely that there will be 8 Sleepersship, 5 Alliance ship plus 3 Coalition ship. But the final story used another version, maybe they just couldn't find out all the story bugs. So here we are............

Well, I don't know how to make my signature in English....

The Hispania is in Omicron Alpha at 4D.

In response to the very old post above, the cinematic sequence takes place after Starlancer, the prequel to FL, which did include jump/warp drives for fighters in and capital ships. Though this is only used in-system at that point, it could have potentially been extended for longer range.

there never was 8 sleeper ships. And if there was they would have been destroyed when our solar system exploded due to a nomad motherships super mega big uber torpedo. If you dont belive me just check my topic that (i pray to god not) isnt deleted by now in the fl spoiler forum

Okay People Listen Up!!
I own both sl and fl and i can tell you now that the chinese, russians and arab states made up the coalition, and the US, UK, Germany France Italy and Spain made up the alliance. Anyone who has starlancer one of the squadrons is called the "cougars". You fight along side them in the last mission and when the squadron leader speaks to you he sounds australian (proof of an australian prescence maybe?) Any way maybe only 5 sleeper ships were finished in time and the others were destroyed. You never know, maybe the Yamato tried to follow the sleeper ships with the remaining colonies on board and just hasnt reached sirius yet! (sorry , my brain has gone crazy!)

Any ways i have to see this "edited intro" can someone provide a link or something??

Finally in fl juni says that the nomads werent strong enough to try and take over in full force so why in there right pink minds would they try and take on the might of the coaltion and the alliance?! its suicide and proves the nomads didnt go to Sol

Post Mon Nov 13, 2006 10:55 pm

Well, If I saw the pre-release intro correctly...the nomads didn't exactly invade Sol. Just the mother ship did....and blasted the sun which effectively wiped out most everyone except that one "Young General" (Atticus Rockford) on the far side of Pluto.
The graphics for that event looked....let's say, not too promising for survival.
Even the pre-release indicated 5 sleeper ships and nothing more.
The reference to 8 sleeper ships was in a rumor on Malta.
(Remember, not all rumors are true and in Freelancer...some are and some are not)

If someone had taken the time to read the ids rumors beyond # 133222...(and look closer at 133222) the rumor itself is inaccurate. The fella metions 8 sleeper ships launching from Pluto with 3 being destroyed before they left the solar system (which is innaccurate since only 5 launched from one of the moons of Jupiter) ...however...he also contradicts himself when he says 5 escaped and mentions all five sleeper ships by name although he says "four of them might sound familiar".
So the fella is "embellishing" his story....which is something like alot of us do as time passes by. (remember, this fella is relating a rumor that is over 800 years old)
(Like a fish story)

There is no coalition (and no alliance) for that matter in the sol sector...because there is no solar system left.

Now..after the 5 sleeper ships successfully made their jump after running the blockade at one of the moons of Jupiter...the fighting continued until a final stand was made at Pluto. It was during that fighting that the nomad mother ship popped in. "We were dumbfounded by it's size and beauty" . Both Alliance and Coalition were briefly "united as a people for those few bitter moments"...
just before the mother ship took the shot at the sun.
