Odd flickering?

Hey all,

I wondered if this issue was isolated or not. Since I switched over to an LCD screen, the text on TLR is oddly flickering, which is really hurting my eyes. It seems to be mostly apparent on smaller text such as the "Home" or "All Forums" links in the top-left corner of the interface. I am running in the screen's native resolution, 1680X1050. This issue seems to be restricted to TLR.

Any idea on what's going on?

Maybe a few more details might shed some light on what the problem might be...
I take it you have a larger LCD screen since you're using 1680X1050.

Mine screen is 22 inch and set to 1680X1050 the same as you have it set to and the viewing mode is set to text, using Vista and Internet Explorer and haven't noticed any flickering...

Haven't had a chance to install any other browsers yet as I have just built a new system, haven't even got my Email up and running yet as I have to get all my info from my old computer.

Maybe someone else has run into this problem and has a suggestion so that we can find a fix to the problem.

I'm not even remotely sure this is related, but I recall some kind of issues with text displaying correctly when IE7 came out the first time, but I didn't have an LCD...

I'm viewing the forums on a Dell Latitude D610 Laptop with a 15" LCD screen running at 1400X1050 (native resolution) using WinXP Pro SP2 with Mozilla 2.0.0.9 and do not have the flickering issue. I also checked it with IE6 SP2 and it looks fine there as well.

If I had to hazard a guess I would be inclined to think it might be related to your refresh rate, but I would think you would see similar issues elsewhere if that were truly the case. I suppose it is also possible that it could be system resource related, did you have multiple browsers open at the time?

Are you using a HD monitor or standard LCD?

Possible troubleshooting suggestions:

1. Make sure you have all browser windows closed except the one experiencing the issue.
2. Make sure you are using the latest drivers for your video card.
3. If the monitor came with drivers (some do, some don't) make sure you update them as well.
4. Try changing the monitor resolution/refresh rate (refer to your monitors documentation for supported modes) and checking the results.
5. Try installing and using a different browser.
6. Trying rebooting the computer.
7. Try viewing from a different computer (if available).
