Spam threads

Sadly, it seems that TLR is under increasing attack by spamming people/bots advertising for various things, especially in the comments section and the Off Topic forum. The comments problem seems to have largely been dealt with through the anti-spam images (to veryify that the user is human). Would it not be practical to implement this for registration and forum posts as well?

Also, this is just my two cents worth, but shouldn't these spam threads be immediately deleted rather than being locked? If the attack comes from a bot, I can't see how a repremand post does much good. Opinions?

Actually, its being looked into to create a tougher registration process, and a screening of wording/names being used and blocked. We happened to talk about that very thing today.

Note- Locking is so the name/IP can be banned/blocked
