Well, the forum will still take a long time, we decided which code to use a while ago, but this code(dot net nuke) is still very new, which means everyone who will be involved in the re-coding of the site has to leanr it from scratch, so it will still take a while before we can show you anything. Dont ask me how long, becasue i dont have a clue
We'll try our best

Occasionally you post news items with a picture and text scrolling down it ("inside" the picture). While these do look cool, it gets annoying if you're actually trying to read the information because it scrolls incredibly slow and there's no way to speed it up! It would be much better, in my opinion, to just have all the text below whatever picture so people can actually read it without going insane!

You do know you can move the mouse cureser over the scolling test and it will freeze there till you move the mouse off it again.

Aye, but I want to speed it up, not slow it down!

I'm fairly new here, as far as registered time, but i've watched the site and read the posts for quite a while you'd be surprised how many of us do..i recently had a complaint, and to my own embarrassment was the fault of my own "elitist" attitude, for not reading the Instructions or Rules and Regs latley, again apologies Chips and Findlay..to the point I would have to agree with others that, segregation or elitismn are not the way to go,, serious posters would take offence at a min req post number or vote method..could i suggest simply any registered member who has been reg'd at least 6 months qualify...see I don't as I hung around without contributing, and have only been reg'd member a short time.. a probation period i could see and agree with.. the more immature, and I don't imply age (I've met the wise and ignorant and age had no role in the labelling) would not wait that long as they usually only want instant gratification..and those who are serious probably would all qualify anyway, if they didn't they would patiently wait it out as a good idea does not get worse with time but only gets better

I had to add this in as I am having a "a Moment" I noticed I use the word I alot. I must think I'm Important. sry couldn't resist

more seriously though The off topic is what got me, read a few hear and there, took a look at the Open Forum, laughed at a few Fan Fiction,my point is after a year of checking it out watching you guys grow, hearing of loss's both personal, and obviously very close to you all that i see here a community and it's healthy, there are a few stray's, a few blacksheep, a rebel here or there , even the odd a***le,but a community. To segregate or separate that is a Divorce, a separation of Family. If You only allow some and not all it would no longer be what it is now. not better but Less

A bit more than two years late on this particular reply, but..what the heck..

Community is about that. Don't go splitting hairs about it.
A community is the strongest when everybody is together because it gives the greatest interaction . It increases the pool of knowlege and availability for the exchange of ideas whether mudane or ingenius.
This isn't about the control of nuclear weapons you know.

it is when it comes to the long-running struggle of the Tawakalni people against the tyranny of Rabbitry!

I'm quite pleased that this thread has come to life again because there are ideas that have been running around in my tea-towelled head for some time now.

When all's said and done, this is the The Lancers Reactor. We discuss lots of other space/combat games, and quite right too, as nothing exists in isolation (except Esquilax) and SL/FL are continuations of work by Chris and Erin Roberts and show clear descent from the WC series. But as the games have aged and only modding keeps them alive (well, FL really as hardly anyone bothers with SL, more's the pity) we've moved very far away from that Lancer's genesis. This is perfectly natural and to be expected as there'll never be another official Lancer game (don't hold your breath anyway!)

so, wonders your Mullah, what can we do to revive some interest in the original Lancer series. here are a couple of ideas..

1. what about interviewing or getting a piece from Chris and Erin Roberts, or anyone else involved in the designa nd production of SL/FL like Jorg Neumann? A retrospective from years afterwards, if you like.

2. Interviews or articles on the cast, which in the case of Fl would be quite extensive. Ok they're voice actors but they also have other careers, although Gimli is so busy I doubt he'd even remember his voice-acting work for FL as he was LOTR-ing at about the same time.

3. ask M$ how the games performed financially over time, and if they lived up to expectations. This would be of particular relevance to FL as if it wasn't for M$ baling out DA we'd never have seen the game, which was in "development hell" (and anyone reading this who's familar with the dynamics of software development will know exactly what that must feel like!) I've often wondered if M$ made ever made any money out of FL and if it ever repaid its development costs.

I'd just like to read something else other than "join my clan" or "play my mod" and I'm still Lancers at the core and don't want to see the series drift into the land of memory. There may not be much playable life left in them but they're the core of the site and the reason we all came here in the first place way back when, and we still recruit new members on the strength of them.
