There was some crusty made for TV movie with Robert Carlyle (what the hell happened to his career?) that the missus made me watch about this exact thing. It was awful, the movie that is, the flood would've been too...if it were real.

I love the reporting style, no mention of whether its a spring or neaps tide, and they say "9ft higher than normal" without saying whether this is normal tide vs spring, or normal spring tide height

I am, of course, assuming that it's a spring tide with severe gale winds whipping the sea up at the same time? Maybe wrong, but that article is just written to scare monger. We seem obsessed with portraying things in the worst light possible to give a shock and startle affect :/

By the way, if i wake up tomorrow and 200 people are dead... i reserve the right to say "oh bugger did I talk out my ass!"

pah, as long as it floods central London and a load of poncy Southerners, I have no great qualms - besides, I live on a hill inland, the only way I'm goign to flood is if I leave the bathtaps running again.

edit - but it turned out to be all *overblown" hyped-up BBC scaremongering nonsense, again - quite literally a storm in a teacup.

I was down at folkestone harbour, snapping away, made for interesting long exposures, other than that nothing much was happening.

well; the floods were a damp squib, but it's gone really cold; unf Mrs Taw wouldn't let me go out and get any coal, but i repaired the boiler and now we have central heating again (until i turn it off in February, weather permitting)
