Hundreds of people in Peru have needed treatment after an object from space - said to be a meteorite - plummeted to Earth in a remote area, officials say.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. We may be witnessing beginings of the next extinction level event.

I wonder if it really is a metior(sp) or just a piece of space junk that fell back to earth, like a satilite which could have radiation assosiated with it.

well *obviously* it's a wrecked alien spacecraft, poisoning the local population or possibly even taking over their bodies a la Invasion of the Bodysnatchers..

I for one welcome our new alien Overlords, and pledge my assistance in rounding up rebel humans as slave labour to work in their alien sugar mines, or in this case, alien llama farms high in the Andes. (Where are the Andes? On the end of your wristies...) sorry CV but poison-gas aliens are more than I can cope with, I can only fight one set of alien overlords at a time, and none at all if it's to my advantage not to resist... espcially if I can persuade them to shift the focus of their invasion to the Melbourne area on a weekend.

c'mon, this is 50's B-movie stuff! meteorite lands in unpopulated area, South rather than North America, but you can't expect aliens to make such distinctions, after all, "humans - they all look alike" as they say on Gamma Procyon V. Then the locals go up for a look and start falling ill then start "changing" - it's Quatermass and the Pit I tell you!

bah, cant be aliens..

everyone knows tha aliens sit in orbit and watch for 10 years before invading, and they would know to attack a more valuable target, like hollywood, after all, a smelly nosous(sp i know) crater would be an improvement... :-)

a foul Venusian prank no doubt! a space launched stinkbomb! clearly they've hatched a conspiracy to sell more perfume in the area - mind controlling perfume! its such a simple plan its no wonder we didn't see it coming until it was too late, its insidious!

or maybe a satellite using some mildly-radioactive metal in a thermoelectric pile generator fell out of orbit after it was sucessfully targeted with an orbital interceptor missile... *cough* *wink*

What a lot of rot!
It's more than obvious to me that this is nothing more than a sign from the gods that they are unhappy with our hedonous ways and have sent a demon hell rock to deal with those who endulge in earthly pleasures.

It is the end of time.

Bible prophecies are being fulfilled.

Christ will return to earth, kill all the sinners, and take all the saints to heaven.

Doom and Disaster is up-on us all.

Run to the Hills!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting, but I'm somewhat doubtful its legitimacy.
